Chief Financial Officer – Digital Banking (Zurich, Switzerland)

Exceptional opportunity for an experienced CFO to become part of a team building a planned next generation digital universal bank for the Swiss market from inception.

This new digital bank is well funded by a very strong Swiss investor and led by a respected CEO and successful entrepreneur. The aim is to be a true tech company driven by data, with focus on sustainability and setting new standards for banking.

Based in Zurich and launching in Q2 2021, the CFO will lead the process of obtaining a bank license and build a team to ensure the new bank will operate in a compliant manner with finances and risks under control.

Your role and responsibility

Responsible for the financial management of the company and as such be a key driver in the strategy process and in building the bank. 

Ensure a competitive and sustainable cost revenue ratio of the company.

Build and continuously improve a state of the art, cost efficient and technology driven risk- and compliance management of the company.

Responsible for a solid and sustainable relationship with FINMA and informing other stakeholders like investors, SNB and media on financial progress and issues.

Build a strong team to manage Controlling, Financial Accounting, Legal, Compliance and Risk.

Controlling Responsibility: Build and manage a transparent MIS and budgeting process. Active cooperation in the optimization of data driven processes to enable real time monitoring and automated reporting.

Financial accounting Responsibility: interim financial statements, annual financial statements (RVB, Swiss GAAP FER), regulatory reporting.

Legal & Compliance Responsibility.

Risk Responsibility: Build and manage Internal Control System (IKS), OpRisk, IT Security and BCM. Cooperate with the CTO to make these systems as data driven and automated as possible.

Necessary experience:

Hands-on and problem-solving attitude in an environment with many uncertainties.

Advanced university degree in finance, business administration, economics or a similar domain.

Swiss Chartered Financial Accountant or Auditor.

At least 10+ years’ relevant working experience.

Strong background not only in finance and accounting but also auditing, financial filings, risk and compliance of banks.

Experience in implementing risk management, internal control, and compliance frameworks.

Demonstrated commitment to optimizing and promoting innovation in financial policies, processes, practices, and systems.

A pronounced ‘client’ focus and ability to create supporters; excellent relationship-building and relationship-management skills with stakeholders in the financial market.

Extensive experience working closely with the Swiss regulator.

Several years of management experience with proven capacity to motivate and lead multidisciplinary teams, integrate diverse perspectives and create a conducive working environment.

As we are building a bank from scratch, proactivity and flexibility is key, able to deal with changing priorities and agenda.

Native German and fluent English.

Experience from Startups or small companies an advantage.

The brief:

You will be responsible for the efficiency of the business and part of the core management team, reporting to the board. You will maintain control of diverse business operations including product development, delivery, operations and support so we expect you to be an experienced and efficient leader within these areas.

Experience designing processes from an operational perspective, including product and engineering would be a distinct advantage.

COO Responsibilities include:

>      Oversee the design and implementation of the product technology strategy

architecture and the selection of technologies

>      Create efficient processes for and operate the business delivery management (customer onboarding, customer support).

>      Implement end-to-end processes for our efficient and highly scalable SaaS business.

>      Establish and manage HR processes across our locations in Germany, India, UK and USA.

>      Manage the Business Operations including Controlling & Reporting (Processes, & KPIs), Prioritization of organizational requirements, Capacity & Capability Management & Scheduling, alignment of company goals with individual goals incl. skill-enhancements plans.

>      Evaluate performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics.

>      Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, alliances etc).     

>      Manage relationships with partners/customers.

>      Establish technology partnerships.

Requirements

>      Minimum three year’s career experience as a proven hands-on COO in an Enterprise SaaS company.

>      In depth understanding of core business functions: Technical Product Management, Product Development, Onboarding, Delivery, Technical Operations, Controlling, Human Resources.

>      Experience in managing budgets and business-planning.

>      Exceptional communication skills, specifically at Board level and with customers.

>      Fluent in German and English language.
